The short version

TackleGuide does not collect, store, or sell any personal data. There is no account, no sign-up, and no server where your information is sent.

Who makes this app

TackleGuide is developed by CANT, an independent developer. This policy explains what information the app uses and why.

What data we collect

None. TackleGuide does not require you to create an account, does not ask for your name, email, or any personal details, and does not run its own backend server. Everything the app needs to work is stored only on your own device.

What's stored on your device

The app saves a few simple preferences locally on your phone (such as your selected fishing state and whether you're a Premium subscriber) using your device's local storage. This information never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

Location

If you allow it, TackleGuide uses your device's location only to suggest the right U.S. state for nearby fishing spots and species. Your location is used in the moment it's needed and is not stored or sent anywhere by us.

Third-party services we use

To provide certain features, TackleGuide connects to a small number of outside services. Each one only receives the minimum information it needs to do its job — for example, a weather request needs your approximate coordinates to return a forecast, but that request goes directly from your device to the weather provider, not through us.

• Amazon Associates — gear recommendations link to Amazon product pages through our affiliate program. We may earn a small commission if you make a purchase, at no extra cost to you.
• RevenueCat — manages Premium subscriptions and in-app purchases, including processing purchase receipts with Apple/Google.
• OpenWeatherMap — provides local weather data used for gear recommendations.
• iNaturalist — provides species reference photos shown in the fish catalog.
• Unsplash — provides decorative landscape photography shown in the app's backgrounds.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data, which we encourage you to review if you'd like more detail.

No account required

You can use TackleGuide fully without ever registering, logging in, or providing any personal information. Premium subscriptions are handled entirely through Apple's App Store and identified by your device, not by any personal profile we maintain.

Children's privacy

TackleGuide does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if we add a new feature that uses a new service — we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
